Garden 29

Gardens are amazing, lovely, and very effective if you use them properly. However, as you all gardeners know, weeds are a nightmare to deal with. Not only they are destroying our lovely plants, but it’s also hard to remove them without having to damage your other plants.

Fortunately, there are a few all-natural solution to this common problem, and a professional gardener shared the solutions. Take a look:

One of the best ways to remove weeds is to remove them by hand. This one is a tested approach that gardeners have used for years. Just use a trowel to loosen the soil; since this makes it easier to pull the weed out. Make sure to wear a pair of gardening gloves so you don’t transfer the seeds somewhere else.

Sunlight reaching the soil is not possible because mulch prevents this, so weed seeds won’t have the right environment to germinate and grow well. Moreover, mulch can prevent weed seeds from entering into your soil.

Boiling Hot Water

Take a pot of boiling hot water and put it onto the weeds. Have in mind to aim it around the crown of the plant. This will kill them so you will never have to worry about these weeds again.

Use Salt

Sprinkle some salt onto the weeds to cause them dehydration. Salt is very effective at killing weeds in small gardens that have lot of rainfall since it will help dilute the salt. Nevertheless, don’t use too much salt because it can also disrupt the soil balance which can hurt your own plants.

Start with a 3:1 salt to water ratio and target weeds only.

You read the morning newspaper and then toss it into the garbage? Don’t do this anymore! Instead, place them around the plans that you want to protect from weeds. This tactic works just the same as mulch. It will prevent sunlight from reaching the weed seeds so they will grow healthier!

Vinegar is a natural and pretty cheap weed killing solution. The acetic acid in vinegar is a natural herbicide, and it draws moisture out of the leaves. But be careful to only use it on your weeds. It will kill weeds and plants soonly spray on the leaves of weeds.

Herbicide Soap

Mix equal parts dish soap, salt, and vinegar together and put it in a spray bottle. Then, spray garden weeds with this deadly spray. The salt and vinegar will dehydrate the weed and the dish soap makes sure that the spray sticks to the leaves.

Torch Weeds

If you want to get aggressive, then torch the weeds using a weed torch.

Sprinkle some cornmeal in your garden. It will prevent weed seeds from germinating much like mulch.
